LIVE EARTH

earth, wax and acrylic on canvas, 2007-present

The Live Earth series, which can often look abstract, are actually multiple images layered on top of and inside each other, using multiple figures as a metaphor to create an image that can be a portrait, a landscape or an abstraction. These paintings can be seen in many ways and have many interpretations. There is a general image and then within this picture you see dozen of other one that when put together makes the painting multiply its meaning - having two views the distance and the near, the general and the particular.

When you see the paintings from a distance, you see one image, when you come closer to the painting you see details of that image. The way of working, the images created, the materials used, have a flow, an interconnectedness. In a seemingly seamless way, that is really very controlled, images appear, monsters, mythical beings, fantastical animals, portraits, figures, heads, faces, floating beings, that multiply as you search the canvas for more meanings and clues.

These paintings are made of earth / acrylic and wax in a method of the artist's invention.
